Tom Shadyac is a successful Hollywood film director, he had a string of hits with Jim Carrey, Robin Williams and others. He lived on an opulent estate in Pasadena and had all the things money can buy. A biking accident which resulted in a concussion caused Tom to reexamine his life and he realized that although at the top of the success ladder he was desperately unhappy.
The "I Am" documentary looks at the questions Tom asked, the people he interviewed (Desmond Tutu, David Suzuki, Noam Chomsky - to mention just a few), and the conclusions he's reached about the American Dream and where it's leading us. His discovery about how Darwin's Origin of the Species was completely misinterpreted alone is a revelation.
"I Am" is very well-produced (no surprise there), entertaining, fast-paced, and most important - enlightening.
